An international jury representing nine countries selected critically acclaimed Indian-Canadian writer Rohinton Mistry as the 2012 laureate of the $50,000 Neustadt International Prize for Literature, sponsored by the University of Oklahoma, the Neustadt family and the international magazine World Literature Today. The choice was made during deliberations September 29 on the OU Norman campus. WLT Executive Director Robert Con Davis-Undiano commented that "the world will quickly discover the excellence of Rohinton Mistry's luminous fiction that the Neustadt jury acknowledged with this choice. Giving the award to Mistry is inspired.' Mistry was born in 1952 in Bombay (now Mumbai). He graduated with a degree in mathematics from the University of Bombay in 1974 and immigrated to Canada with his wife the following year, settling in TorontoTuesday, October 4, 2011
